Dutch motorhome builder Tonke has taken a unique approach to the idea of a motorhome with its Fieldsleeper, a detachable truck camper. Pull up to your favorite spot and with the push of a couple buttons, hydraulics lift the camper off the truck and you’ve got a cozy cabin for weekending.
The detachable truck campers have different building lengths of 12’6”, 15’3” or 17’ and are based on the Fiat Ducato or Mercedes Sprinter chassis-cab. Custom vehicles are also available so options are limitless.
The Fieldsleeper can be removed from the flatbed in just 10 minutes. With the hydraulic lifting system, there is only a 4“ step from the ground when the unit is in the low position. This lets you use the vehicle without the unit when camping. You can also place your Tonke in your backyard, to be used as guest accommodation, as an inspirational workplace or as a bed & breakfast annex.
Sturdy wheels can be fitted to enable the unit to be moved around. This means that the unit can be driven into a garage or into storage.
